About the Artists
The Still River Studio artists met at Northwest Connecticut Community College while attending painting classes taught by Judith McElhone. Shortly thereafter Mrs. McElhone left her teaching career to become the Founding Executive Director of Five Points Gallery and the expanded Five Points Art Center. The Still River artists wanted to continue their artistic pursuits together. Gail's husband Fred Richards, owner of F&G Richards Jewelers, offered the group an unused space next to his jewelry store as a studio/gallery. In the summer of 2015 the artists renovated the space into a light filled studio where they could paint and display the work for sale to the public. Their art has been shown at museums and galleries throughout the Northeast and is collected by lovers of art all over the country. A glimpse of our studio.
